ONE YEAR TODAY

One year ago today, this blog began.

I had an English degree and was beginning work on my Special Education teaching credential. One assignment was to create a blog, of which Assistive Technology was to be a part. I won't bore you with the details.

Because I was not interested in creating something that was simply abandoned after final grades were in, I chose to try and meld the class assignment with things I love - reading, poetry, humor, literacy advocasy - and create a place that was enjoyable as well as a little bit informative.

Along the way I have learned a great deal. I scoured the internet for the code that would allow visitors with visual impairments to increase the size of the text on the pages you are reading, then had to teach myself to rewrite it to make it work for me. The result is a humble RESIZE TEXT button at the top of the side bar. My pictures are also labeled for those who rely on readers.

While job hunting, my research on AT and other SPED and disability topics has lagged. As my message states this is a place for 'aid and comfort.' My own as well. Reading, posting, linking the poems, and finding suitable pictures helps me take a moment and refill my own cup. I hope that you enjoy the results.

After a year I am still only a novice, and I would appreciate any constructive criticism you might have for me.
