Saturday Farmer's Market - Good Day, Sunshine.

Created by Heather at Capricious Reader, and now hosted by Chris at Stuff as Dreams are Made on.

Soul mates;
Coreopsis and Bee

The Sunflowers are stretching for the sky, and while waiting a turn at the feeder, the Lesser Gold Finches sit on the leaves and snack on the ants crawling on them.

These little sweethearts have come up in the middle of the California Poppies, not many, just two small stems.

New residents moved into the garden this week.

Aphids used to be an unending headache over the whole yard, with honeydew falling like a rain. Even sitting outside was sometimes impossible, and forget seeing through the windshield without washing it.

We've taken to releasing a hoard of Ladybugs each spring and they work hard at cleaning up.

They also give me someone to talk to while I'm out in the garden.

The largest bed is still evolving. Right now the Lavender is coming into its own, the Poppies are fading, and the Daffodils are spent. Next the Lantana will be coming on the scene. They're filling out again as we speak, but they're at their best mid-summer.

I was surprised at how much space the Poppies covered, bursting from the bed and into the yard. We liked it and have decided to expand the bed with more drought tolerant plants. We haven't decided which ones, maybe just more of the current ones.

Caterpillars
- Brod Bagert

They came like dewdrops overnight
Eating every plant in sight,
Those nasty worms with legs that crawl
So creepy up the garden wall,
Green prickly fuzz to hurt and sting
Each unsuspecting living thing.
How I hate them!   Oh, you know
I’d love to squish them with my toe.
But then I see past their disguise,
Someday they’ll all be butterflies.

I think this is a Cabbage White Butterfly but I am not sure. I see it flitting around each afternoon, dancing around the Bees.
