I ran across these at
Scientific American.
The "brain children" of illustrator Kalliopi Monoyios, some of these scaiku are absolutely wonderful.
You can choose any topic on which to write haiku, (just google haiku and see what I mean!) and there is no shortage of instruction on how to do so. You can choose traditional or any number of new variations. To paraphrase what a friend once said about the game "Othello,"
"They take minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master."
~ Oh. Just a small FYI. Much of the fun haiku we see today would actually fall into the category of senryu, which tend to make light of human nature. ~
