BOOK REVIEWS. Sort of.

The Lighthouse Keeper - Luisa Buehler

Grace accepts a friends invitation to Canada, where she and brother Marty try to rest and recuperate (from the goings on in the last book). But alas, drama and plot twists abound. (Really!)

Loved it. Next!

The Innkeeper - Luisa Buehler

Each successive book in the series brings to life more of the peripheral characters. Along with plots, they have developed, some comfortably, some not so. But all of it keeps me wanting more.

The Reenactor - Luisa Buehler

The author prefaces this book with the fact that it is the last in the series and bids us say "good night, Gracie." It was a nice little series and though I'm sorry to see It end, I understand.

This last book continues with all the things that made me enjoy the series, until about half way through. Decisions and happenings start to feel forced, like Ms Buehler had her normal outline completed but just got tired of writing and rushed it.

All in all, this series was still fun and compelling. I enjoyed it tremendously.

NOTE: These are not, in any way, meant to be comprehensive reviews.
They are intended to acknowledge that I have read the book and give my honest core impressions.

BOOK REVIEWS. Sort of.

The Scoutmaster - Luisa Buehler

Once again, Grace Marsden ends up deep in mystery, murder, and intrigue. And once again, it was a compelling journey, well worth taking.

Now if you'll excuse me, tea's ready and I'm off to read the next installment, The Lighthouse Keeper.

BOOK REVIEWS. Sort of.

The Station Master - Luisa Buehler

And the saga continues . . . Well, it's not the same saga exactly, new murders and all. But the sub plots that weave in and around the main one connect back to the last book.

It's comfortable and familiar at the same time it presents its new mystery.

I am really enjoying the series. Can you tell?

BOOK REVIEWS. Sort of.

The Lion Tamer - Luisa Buehler

Let's see . . . Interesting plot ... check. Compellingly woven continuing subplots ... check. Likeable characters ... check. Surprises along the way ... check.

Enough to keep me reading ... yes, I think so. It came in at 236 pages longer than the first and I hardly noticed.

So if you'll excuse me, kettle's calling. Well, that and the next in the series . . . The Station Master.

BOOK REVIEWS. Sort of.

The Rosary Bride - Luisa Buehler

I really enjoyed this first in the series of Grace Marsden Mysteries.

I don't think the characters were exceptional, but the story itself was intricate and easily held my interest. It had depth, layering, and left quite a bit of back story yet to be mined.

Oh. If anyone is interested, Grace has suffered with OCD since childhood and has developed coping mechanisms. Her symptoms intensify in times of stress, and since this is a murder mystery, you can imagine they sometimes cause her difficulty.

But she overcomes, so far . . .

At well over Four hundred pages it still left me wanting more, and I happily purchased the rest of the series. (So much for my TBR pile) Luckily, they were cheap for my Nook.
